Twenty-sixth Monthly Mass in the Diocese of Kildare and Leighlin

This afternoon, fourteen persons attended the twenty-sixth Monthly Mass in the Diocese of Kildare and Leighlin celebrated by Revd. Fr. Simon Leworthy, F.S.S.P. It was announced that December will be the last time that a Priest of the F.S.S.P. celebrates a monthly Mass in the Diocese.

This is awful. The people of Kildare and Leighlin are being abandoned by the FSSP. Why are they doing this?

The Spirit breatheth where he will; and thou hearest his voice, but thou knowest not whence he cometh, and whither he goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit. (Jn. iii,8)

I'd like to say that I'm sorry to see this but I know the harm that has been done. This conclusion is simply the crowning of the efforts made by the FSSP here.

Perhaps the FSSP is moving elsewhere because they are getting offers of permanent positions as part of the life of the Diocese like in Brussels. It makes sense to go where your really welcome instead of where your forced to come only once a month and leave again until the next time.

I attended this Mass regularly. There was never a sense of "community", if that's the right word? It felt like something that came in and left each month. A strong tree has good roots, but I fear this tree never took hold. I wonder if the FSSP ever had any intention of trying to make a go of this?

Bad news. The FSSP are all human beings, some good, some bad, all frail and make mistakes. Looks like a lot of mistakes were made here. Was it a problem of them relying on the few rich folks?

Something wrong here alright. I pray that the harm has left entirely and that it can be undone.
