Mass in Carlow Cathedral

For only the second time, Mass in the Gregorian Rite was celebrated at the new Altar of Carlow Cathedral on Saturday, 21st May, to honour Our Lady's Month and, belatedly, the feast of St. Conleth, Patron of the Diocese of Kildare and of our Association.

  2. Visiting the Cathedral of the Diocese is an important gesture of union and communion with the Hierarchy of the Church.

The decor of the Cathedral reminds me of something from an ice-cream parlour. Of course, we don't need to enbrace Calvinist sterility and whiteness but these lurid colours (no doubt the recommendation of a liturgical expert who has been on a pastels course) seem to me to detract from the reverence of the place, except they throw the great high altar into a stately relief.

  4. Certainly is a strange color choice.

  5. Congratulations on another step on the road of tradition. It can't be easy when you consider the fate of traditional churches. It would be interesting to hear about the problems.
